Cyber Hygiene Awareness Program: Promoting a
Safe Digital Community
"Prevention is Better Than Cure!" — With this powerful message, the
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Community (OCDS), in collaboration with the
Rotary Club of Margao Sunrise, the Goa Police – Cyber Crime Cell,
and ISEA (Information Security Education and Awareness) — an
initiative of the Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India
— organized a special talk on Cyber Hygiene Practices on Sunday, 7th
September.

GUEST SPEAKER :The session was graced by Mr. Allen Pauly
Payappilly, ISEA Ambassador and Cyber Yoddha from Goa Police, who
served as the distinguished Speaker. He delivered an engaging and
insightful presentation on staying safe in the digital world.
OPENING PRAYER : The program began with a prayer led by Rev. Fr.
Marlon Rodrigues, The Superior of Carmelite Monastery, invoking the
Holy Spirit to guide the session, followed by a hymn to the Holy
Spirit sung by our members Elizabeth Santos, Sarita Fernandes, Gracy
Cortez and Savio Pereira.

Louise Fernandes, member of the OCDS community, served as compère.
Rotarian Connie D’Cruz, President of the Rotary Club of Margao
Sunrise, delivered the welcome address and introduced the speaker
Mr. Allen Pauly Payappilly.

Mr. Allen Pauly Payappilly shared expert insights and practical
advice on cyber safety, covering critical topics like:
• Cyber bullying
• Phishing scams
• Online job and investment frauds
• Digital arrests
• Debit/credit card fraud
• The dangers of oversharing on social media
• The importance of not sharing OTPs and passwords
The session was interactive, with attendees sharing their own
personal experiences related to cybercrime and fraud, which added
depth and relatability to the discussion.
Over 80 participants attended the event, including community members
and guests. Snacks and refreshments were served at the close of the
session.
Following the talk, Elizabeth Santos, President of the Our Lady of
Mt. Carmel Community, introduced the mission of the OCDS and
encouraged interested individuals to contact her for further
details.
Rotarian Connie Fernandes presented a token of appreciation to Mr.
Allen Pauly Payappilly, and Leoniz Gomes, a community member,
delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of both the Rotary Club,Rev.
Fr. Marlon Rodrigues (Superior), Rev Fr. Diogo Proenca (Spiritual
Assistant) and the OCDS community.
The event concluded with attendees more aware, empowered, and
inspired to foster a safer, more responsible digital environment.
