Carmel Sannidhi Monastery @ Carmel Giri
September 27th, 2022 is a day to be celebrated and cherished
for the Karnataka Goa Province as it inaugurated and blessed
the newly built monastery, Carmel Sanndhi at Kadaganchi,
Kalaburagi. The inauguration and blessing of the monastery
were held at 10-30 am by Most Rev. Dr. Robert Miranda,
Bishop of Gulbarga, and Rev. Fr George Santhumayor,
Provincial Superior of KG Province. There were a large
number of Carmelites representing the various communities of
the Province and the religious and diocesan priests of the
vicinity. After the blessing and inauguration, the
thanksgiving Holy Eucharist was presided over by the Bishop.
Fr Dominic Vas preached an inspiring homily. Towards the
conclusion of the mass, the Blessed Sacrament was taken in
procession and was installed at the monastery chapel by the
Bishop. The spiritual celebration was followed by a stage
programme where the contractor, engineers, labourers and
donors were honoured and felicitated for their mighty share
in the construction of the monastery. Fr Provincial in his
address recalled the history and thanked the pioneers and
all the friars who toiled experiencing the hardships of
life. The Bishop congratulated the Carmelite friars for
their contribution to the diocese of Gulbarga. Fr Prakash
D’Cunha compered the stage programme. Fr Ligoury Crasta,
Superior proposed the vote of thanks. After the programme,
lunch was served to all.
The Province is grateful in a special way to all our friars
serving in Canada who contributed a lion's share for the
construction of the monastery, friars in Australia,
Vijayanagar and Hegde Nagar for their generous
contributions.
