First Holy Communion at St Mary’s church, Hegde Nagar
It was a joyous and glorious moment for the parish of St.
Mary’s church, Hegde Nagar, Bangalore on the 20th of August
2021. Due to the pandemic, the event had to be postponed
twice. On this day the twenty-three children received first
Holy Communion for the first time in their lives. The solemn
Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Vinod Lobo
OCD, Provincial Secretary and concelebrated by Fr. Boniface
D’ Souza, Parish Priest and Fr. Adarsh Rodrigues, Assistant
Priest. Fr. Vinod Lobo preached an inspiring homily - how to
make a difference in life after receiving Jesus into one’s
lives. The melodious choir was conducted by the parish
choir. The whole liturgy was meaningfully animated by the
children who received the first Holy Communion. The Parish
Priest expressed the sentiments of gratitude to the sisters
and the teachers who catechized the children for almost
three months. The children who received the first holy
communion were given a scapular, Rosary and certificate. As
we congratulate these children, we pray that they may deepen
their faith in the person of Jesus Christ as they grow in
their Christian lives.
