Pushpashrama the institute of Philosophy and religion,
situated at R. S Naidu Nagar, Mysuru, celebrated on the 27th
of September its Golden Jubilee.
The thanksgiving mass was
offered at 10.30 A.M. presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Thomas
Vazapilly the Bishop of Mysore and concelebrated by 78
priests. Thereafter celebration was held at the institute
auditorium. The guest of honour was Rev. Fr. Saverio
Cannistra the Superior General of the Discalced Carmelite
Order. The stage was shared with him by another two
dignitaries namely Rev. Fr. Johannes Gorantla the Definitor
General and Rev. Fr. Charles Serrao the Provincial. The
students of Flos Carmeli School invoked the presence of God
through prayer dance. Rev. Fr. Alfred Menezes the Rector,
welcomed the guests.
Thereafter a short video was presented which took everyone
down the memory lane thus showing a glimpse of the growth of
Pushpashrama from its humble beginnings. The previous
superiors who had slogged for its development were not
forgotten but duly acknowledged and felicitated.
Fr. Oswald Crasta introduced the dignitaries and they were
felicitated. The brothers presented the dance and
entertained the guests. There was a special acknowledgement
of the service rendered by Fr. Paul D’ Souza who served the
institute for more than 25 years as a professor of
philosophy. The vote of thanks was delivered by Fr. Ronald
D’ Souza, the scholastics sang the Pushpashrama anthem, Rev.
Fr. Johannes prayed grace before meals and thus the
celebration concluded with the fellowship meal.
