A Day of Grace and Communion: St. Teresa of
Avila OCDS Mapusa Community, honours its Patron Saint.
The St. Teresa of Avila OCDS Mapusa Community joyously celebrated
the feast of its beloved patron saint on Sunday, 18 October 2026, in
an atmosphere of prayer, gratitude, and fraternal joy.
The day began with the Eucharistic celebration at 8:15 am, solemnly
animated by the OCDS members through the liturgy and choir. Fr.
Macson Dabre was the main celebrant, while Fr. Diogo Proenca,
Spiritual Assistant to the OCDS Community, concelebrated. In his
homily, Fr. Macson emphasized that we should bring sacredness into
our secular lives, while guarding against allowing secular beliefs,
traditions, and modernism to enter into what is sacred.
The community offered heartfelt praise and thanksgiving for the
life, wisdom, and enduring spiritual legacy of St. Teresa of Avila.
Following the Mass, the celebration continued with fellowship in the
warm atmosphere of the Carmelite Refectory. Both priests joined the
OCDS members for breakfast, where all gathered around the table in
an atmosphere of joyful conversation and shared reflection. The
simple meal became a meaningful expression of communion, as members
spoke, laughed, and shared the deep sense of oneness that unites
them as one Carmelite family.
The feast was not merely a commemoration of St. Teresa’s life, but a
living witness to her spirit of prayer, humility, and community. It
reminded all present that the Carmelite vocation is sustained not
only by prayer, but also by love, service, and the bonds of family.
May St. Teresa of Avila continue to intercede for the OCDS
Community, guiding its members ever closer to Christ and deepening
their commitment to a life of prayer and fraternal love.
