‘THE CHILDREN OF TODAY ARE THE FUTURE OF
TOMORROW’
As the nation celebrated Children’s day in
memory of Chacha Nehru, Pushpashrama too joined
hands in celebrating the same. On November 14th,
the children were asked to join for the 6 PM
Kannada novena mass. The tiny tots animated the
liturgy and also lend their voices for a
beautiful choir. Fr. Pradeep Pinto was the main
celebrant and he was joined by Fr. Oswald Crasta.
Fr, Pradeep Pinto broke the word of God and
delivered a meaningful sermon on theme taken
from the book of Sirach regarding the duties of
the Children towards their parents. The prayers
of the faithful were prayed in various
languages. After the mass, the novena to the
Infant Jesus was prayed and Fr. Oswald led a
special prayer service for the children. They
were also anointed with the holy oil.
After the conclusion of the mass, the children
were asked to gather at the auditorium for a
special celebration. Here, the children
fascinated the crowd especially their parents by
displaying a variety of talents. Fr. Lawrence
D’Mello, the Rector of Pushpashrama inaugurated
the celebration by lighting the lamp along with
the kids. Br. Wilson welcomed the gathering. The
compering was done by the Jenita and Oliva, the
altar servers of Pushpashrama. The children
indeed seized the day (Carpe Diem!). They were
dances, jokes and riddles all for the children.
Brothers also added flavor to the celebration by
performing a dance and a musical piece.
Fr. Pradeep revealed the mystery of gifting the
piggy banks to the kids the previous year by
saying that the amount collected from every
child would be given for the children with
special needs. The colorful programme was
brought to a close with the vote of thanks by
Br. Hilary. Food was served for the people
gathered and gifts were given to kids who joined
for the celebration.
It was undeniably a day of innocent fun and
frolic which left the elders wishing they would
be kids again!
