Celebrating Christ the King and Honouring a
Cherished Benefactor Helen Tiampo
On 23 November 2025, the Friars of the Little Flower Community in
Deroche, BC, under the leadership of Fr. Vincent De Souza, Superior,
gathered with the faithful to celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lord
Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. The Eucharistic celebration also
marked the Month’s Mind Mass of Helen Chua Tiampo — a beloved
friend, benefactor, and collaborator whose deep faith, kindness, and
generosity touched not only the Carmelites but countless others.
Fr. Vincent, the main celebrant, invited the faithful to offer their
intentions and to pray specially for the repose of Helen’s soul,
entrusting her to Christ our King. Concelebrating with him were Fr.
Ivan, Fr. Jeevan, and Fr. Ronald Sequeira. The Gospel was proclaimed
by Fr. Jeevan, and the homily was preached by Fr. Ivan, who
beautifully encouraged the faithful to imitate the kingship of
Christ expressed in humility, loving service, and compassion. He
concluded by thanking God for Helen’s inspiring life and offering
gratitude to Fr. Rudolf D’Souza for his dedicated efforts in
connecting Helen’s charitable mission with the Carmelites.
After the Mass, Fr. Vincent delivered a heartfelt message of
gratitude on behalf of the Little Flower community. He thanked all
the Carmelite Friars—both present and absent—and the entire
congregation. With deep appreciation, he praised God for Helen’s
life and sincerely acknowledged Fr. Rudy de Souza, whose guidance
and commitment led the Carmelites to their benefactor, Helen Tiampo
Chua, whose legacy they now uphold with pride and gratitude.
The celebration concluded with a procession to Helen’s mausoleum,
where prayers and the blessing of the grave were led by Fr. Ronald
Sequeira.
