Expression of Gratitude to Rev. Fr. Diogo Proença, OCD
On Saturday, 30th May 2026, the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Community (OCDS), Margao, gathered in a spirit of love and thanksgiving to express their heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Fr. Diogo Proença for his devoted service as Spiritual Assistant. Members of the Chicalim OCDS community also joined in this joyful occasion, making it a beautiful celebration of unity and appreciation.

The evening began with a prayer invoking the Holy Spirit, followed by a warm welcome and overview of the programme by Councillor Inez. followed by group singing of beautifully sung hymns that uplifted hearts in praise and thanksgiving of all present and set a prayerful tone.
A meaningful and creative skit titled “Father Taught Us How to Pray” was presented that portrayed Fr. Diogo with simplicity and gentle humour. The skit beautifully reflected his fatherly care, constant encouragement, and dedication to guiding the community towards a deeper life of prayer. The hall, thoughtfully decorated with balloons which added to the warmth and joy of the gathering.

The celebration continued with members sharing heartfelt poems and personal experiences, expressing how Fr. Diogo had touched and inspired their lives. Over tea and snacks the community enjoyed moments of joy, laughter, and fellowship, strengthening their bonds of love and unity.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Sharlon Fernandes, followed by the presentation of a Spiritual Bouquet to Fr. Diogo by Mathil Jane on behalf of the community, as a heartfelt token of their prayers, love, and gratitude. In a deeply touching moment, the members gathered around Fr. Diogo, placing their hands over him as they sang a blessing song, invoking God’s grace and strength upon him for his new mission. The gesture created a powerful atmosphere of unity, prayer, and affection. In his response, Fr. Diogo expressed his sincere appreciation for the thoughtful efforts of each member and shared how deeply moved he was by the love and warmth shown throughout the evening.

As Fr. Diogo embarks on his new mission, the community lovingly entrusts him to God’s care and protection. His gentle guidance, humility, and deep spiritual wisdom will always be treasured, and the seeds he has sown will continue to bear fruit in the lives of all. His presence and legacy will remain alive in the hearts of the community
