Children and Parents Unite in Prayer for the
New Academic Year
Mangaluru, May 29: As schools prepare to reopen for the new academic
year on June 1, the Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, organized a
special Mass and Eucharistic Adoration for students on May 29,
invoking God’s blessings upon children, parents, teachers, and the
entire academic year ahead.
The celebration witnessed the participation of nearly 500 children
along with their parents, making it a meaningful spiritual gathering
before the commencement of the new school term.
Rev. Fr. Sunil Pinto, Principal of St. Ann’s Group of Institutions,
Kadaba, was the main celebrant of the Eucharistic celebration. In
his homily, he emphasized the importance of beginning the academic
year with commitment, discipline, and a spirit of prayer. He
encouraged students to cultivate good study habits from the very
beginning and to strive not only for academic excellence but also
for growth in values, character, and faith.
Following the Holy Mass, Fr. Sunil led an hour-long Eucharistic
Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. During this prayerful
service, the various intentions and needs of students were specially
remembered. Prayers were offered for wisdom, good health,
protection, concentration in studies, success in examinations, and
guidance in making the right choices throughout the year.
The programme was organized as an opportunity for students to place
their studies and future in the hands of God before returning to
classrooms after the summer vacation. Parents joined their children
in seeking the blessings of the Infant Jesus, who Himself “grew in
wisdom, age, and favour before God and man.”
Rev. Fr. Stifan Perera, Director of the Infant Jesus Shrine,
welcomed the gathering and wished all students a fruitful and
successful academic year filled with God’s blessings. Rev. Fr.
Melvin D’Cunha, Superior of St. Joseph’s Monastery, was also present
for the celebration.
The special service concluded with a blessing for all the students
and prayers for a grace-filled and productive academic year.
