Lenten Retreat at Matadakeri, Honnavar
The Carmelite friars of Matadakeri, Honnavar organized two days of
Lenten Spiritual retreat for all the faithful of the diocese of Karwar
from 18-19 March 2022. Fr. Rovel D’Souza OCD, Fr. Roshan Monteiro OCD,
Fr. Juze D’Souza OCD, and Br. Prakash D’Souza from Bandra and his team
Preached the retreat. On the first day 18th March, there were around
four thousand people. And the second five thousand people participated
and benefited spiritually from this retreat. All the faithful were given
meals on both the days. Frs. Rovel and Roshan gave meaningful
reflections and Fr. Juze kept the people active through praise and
worship and Br. Prakash and his team conducted the graceful adoration.
Many diocesan priests came to render their helping hand during the
retreat. First day Fr. Thomas Fernandez, the dean of Honnavar,
celebrated the mass and appreciated and congratulated the mega retreat
that was organized for the first time at Honnavar deanery, by the
Carmelites. Second day, during the confessions many neighboring priests
were invited and Fr. Sebastian, Mugwa Parish Priest celebrated the
Eucharist and Fr. Antony Lopes, Mudkani Parish Priest inaugurated the
retreat program that will be held every third Friday of the month at
Stella Maris, Matadakeri, Honnavar. Finally, Fr. Juze thanked Fr. Suresh
Saldanha, Superior of Stella Maris and Fr. Peter D’Sa for their support
and encouragement and the Donors for their monetary support and all the
volunteers of the parish for their tireless work, help and support.
Whole retreat was systematically planned and organized by the community.
The Province congratulates the community in organizing this mighty
retreat for the faithful of the diocese of Karwar.
