Inauguration of the orientation course
On June 11, 2023, the solemnity of Corpus Christy, Fr. Silvestre D'Souza, the Provincial Superior of the Carmelites of Karnataka-Goa Province, marked the beginning of the Orientation course at Avila Jyothi in Mapusa by lighting the lamp during the Holy Eucharist. Along with him were Fr. Archibald Gonsalves, the Provincial Councillor in charge of formation, Fr. Ronald D'Souza, the Superior of Avila Jyothi, Fr Aaron Babush Rodrigues, the Director, the other community friars, and the guests’ priests. We are glad to know that this academic year we have 18 young boys who have joined us to embrace the Carmelite lifestyle after praying about it, making a decision, and putting their trust in the One who has called them. Seven of them are from Mangalore, three each from Hassan, Honnavar, and Mumbai, one from Vasai, and one from Gujarat. We acknowledge the exceptional sacrifice made by their family members by remembering and praying for them, and we appreciate and thank all those who worked hard to promote their vocations. The marvellous Lord who started the excellent work in them might finish it.
