Lectio Brevis 2016-2017
Lectio Brevis of the current academic year took place on
the fifteenth of June, 2016 in Pushpashrama. The celebration
began with the Holy Eucharist presided over by Rev. Fr.
Silvestre D'Souza, Councilor in charge of spirituality. He
also preached a meaningful homily inviting the brothers to
grow in wisdom. After a sumptuous tea-break the inaugural
ceremony of the academic year took place in the seminary
auditorium. Br. Elvis compered the programme and Rev. Fr.
Alfred Menezes Rector of the College spread the carpet of
red roses to all the invitees. Rev. Fr. Paul D’Souza, the
professor par excellence introduced the speaker of the day.
Rev. Fr. Wilfred Rodrigues the latest doctor of the province
presented the Lectio Brevis on the theme ‘Personal
fulfilment and happiness through freedom from cravings, a
comparative study of Gautama Buddha and St. John of the
Cross.’ Rev. Fr. George Santhumayor, the president of the
programme addressed the gathering inviting the students to
grow into philosophical enquiry and released the Cosmos, the
annual magazine of the Students. Rev. Fr. Oswald Crasta,
dean of the philosophy college presented the rules and
regulations of the college. Rev. Fr. Ronald D’Souza, master
of students expressed the sentiments of gratitude to all
those who made this event the most memorable one. With the
anthem of the College the programme petered out followed by
the midday prayer and the grand monastic meal.
