Our Lady of Mount Carmel Festivity!
The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was
celebrated with great devotion and joy across
two days, on 16th July within the community and
on 19th July with the faithful, both held at
Pushpashrama Shrine.
The community celebration began with Solemn
Lauds, followed by Solemn Holy Eucharist at Flos
Carmeli Convent, celebrated by Bishop Francis
Serrao, and lunch hosted by the Sisters. In the
evening, two Masses were celebrated by Fr.
Alphonse Britto and Fr. Manoj Braganza, with
homilies by Fr. Prasanna and Fr. Vijay
reflecting on the Brown Scapular and Carmelite
heritage in Kannada and English respectively.
The day concluded with a fraternal community
gathering featuring games, cultural activities
and a festive dinner.
Three days later, the celebration continued with
the faithful. Fr. Vijay celebrated the 8:00 a.m.
Mass, reminding the congregation of Mary's
protection and God's mercy for sinners. The
11:00 a.m. Mass, celebrated by Fr. Alphonse
Britto, featured Fr. Manoj Braganza's homily on
the Parable of the Sower, encouraging
faithfulness to God's call. On both days, the
Brown Scapular was blessed and distributed as a
sign of Mary's protection, followed by the
distribution of cake.
The 11:00 a.m. Mass was graced by the presence
of Carmelite Fathers and Sisters from Dhyanavana,
who joined for a fraternal celebration after the
mass for lunch filled with songs, games and the
Rector's address, concluding with a group photo
session. Together, both celebrations deepened
devotion to Mother Mary, enriched understanding
of the Carmelite spirit, and strengthened bonds
of faith, joy, and fraternity within the
community and among the faithful.
