Niece's First Profession in the Hands of Aunt at
Hassan Carmel
The first religious profession of Sr Maria
Harshita of Jesus was held on Sunday 23rd July
2023 at Carmel Matha Ashram, Cloistered Carmel
monastery chapel, Hassan. The ceremony commenced
at 6-45 am with a Solemn Eucharistic celebration
presided over by Fr Archibald Gonsalves, Vicar
Provincial, and concelebrated by Fr Vinod Lobo.
The momentous occasion was witnessed by her
community sisters, family members, and
well-wishers.
During the homily, Fr. Archibald emphasized the
beauty of consecrated life within the Church,
highlighting how individuals who dedicate
themselves to this vocation become a living
testament of God's grace and love. He eloquently
expressed that the consecrated life is a gift to
the Church and serves as a powerful witness to
God's goodness towards humanity. Fr. Archibald
encouraged Sr. Maria Harshita to remain
steadfast in her commitment and to embrace the
challenges and joys that come with her chosen
path.
Following the homily, Sr. Maria Harshita stepped
forward to make her first profession of vows.
With profound sincerity and devotion, she
pronounced her commitment to live the
evangelical counsels of chastity, poverty, and
obedience within the Carmelite community. Mother
Prioress of Hassan Carmel, Sr Caroline of the
Child Jesus received her vows with joy and
gratitude. It was joyful to see the niece (Sr
Harshita) making her profession in the hands of
her own aunt (mother prioress) which added an
extra layer of spiritual depth and familial
connection to the ceremony. After which all the
sisters wished her with a kiss of peace.
The presence of Sr. Maria Harshita's family
members added a sense of warmth and support to
the occasion. They were visibly proud and happy
to witness her taking this significant step
within the four walls of Carmel. At the
conclusion of the mass, Fr. Archibald greeted
Sr. Harshita and extended congratulations and
best wishes on behalf of the Provincial, all of
the KG Province's friars, and all of the
Cloistered Carmel Nuns.
As Sr. Maria Harshita continues her vocation in
Carmel, it is certain that she will be a beacon
of light within the Church, radiating God's love
and grace to all whom she encounters on her
journey. We extend our heartfelt congratulations
and prayers to her, praying that her commitment
to the consecrated life in Carmel may continue
to inspire and bless the Church and the world.
May God's grace be with her every step of the
way.
