We are Friends of Christ! – Inauguration of
Orientation Course
We the Carmelites of Karnataka – Goa Province
thank God for the gift of vocations He has
granted to us even during this Covid-19 Pandemic
crisis. July 29, 2021 was a historical day for
the entire Province, as we inaugurated the
Orientation programme 2021-22 at Avila Jothi,
Carmelite seminary at Mapusa Goa. Rev. Fr. Pius
James D’Souza, the Provincial Superior of the
Province was a main celebrant along with Fr. Ivo
Dias, Superior of Avila Jyothi Seminary, Fr.
Silvestre D’Souza, Superior of Carmelite
Monastery, Margao, Fr. Don Tony , Fr. Juze
D’souza, Fr. Ivan Sequiera, Fr. Praveen D’Souza,
Fr. Anthony Dsouza and Fr. Macson Dabre. Fr.
Provincial in his homily expressed his gratitude
towards God and appreciated the boldness of the
brothers and their family to send them for the
formation at Mapusa. He said on this special day
as we celebrate the Memoria of Sts. Martha, Mary
and Lazarus who are called Friends of Jesus, we
too are called to be the friends of Jesus
Christ. He also thanked the Vocation promoters,
the Community, the teachers and benefactors for
their generosity and availability. The
orientation Course was inaugurated by lighting
the Lamp. Avila Jyothi Carmelite Seminary
comprises of Fr. Ivo Dias as a Superior, Fr.
Macson Dabre (Director), Fr. Praveen D’Souza
(Director of Emmaus), Fr. Ivan Sequeira, Fr.
Anthony Dsouza and Br. Hillary Rodrigues
(Regent) along with 17 candidates from different
parts of Karnataka, and Maharashtra. 09 from
Mangalore, 04 from Karwar Diocese, 02 each from
Shimoga, and 01 from Vasai. After the breakfast
Rev. Fr. Provincial addressed our orientation
brothers. He guided, motivated and wished them
all the success. The inauguration was concluded
by singing a thanksgiving Hymn to our Lord
Jesus. The entire Province wishes all the best
to the formative community and the budding
Carmelites and accompanies through our prayerful
support.
