All for you Lord!
The two Secular Carmelite Communities at Margao,
had been eagerly waiting for the visit of the
Provincial, when we could have the Promises and
Rite of Admission. We thank God the Almighty for
giving us the possibility of coming together on
the 25th of July, 2020. Since the Civil
Administration in Goa has permitted only very
small gatherings for religious services, we had
to limit the celebration only to a few
participants.
Rev. Fr. Pius James D’Souza, presided over the
Solemn Eucharistic Celebration and received the
Definitive Promise of the following:
Members of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Community:
1. Seraphina Lobo of St. Teresa of Los Andes
2. Judith Pereira of St. Teresa Benedicta of the
Cross
3. Joaquim Rebello of St. Teresa of Los Andes
4. Sebastian Mendes of St. Joseph
5. Rose Mendes of St. Mary of Jesus Crucified
6. Agnes D’Silva of St. John of the Cross
7. Savio Pereira of St. Simon Stock
Member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus
Community:
1. Mabel Dias Carneiro of St. Teresa
Margaret Redi
We congratulate these eight members who have
taken a bold step, after a long and fruitful
period of formation and discernment. The whole
liturgy was live-streamed on the You-Tube
Channel, for the benefit of the relatives,
friends and other faithful who could not be
present.
Soon after the Holy Mass, there was a short
felicitation programme, where a brief profile of
each of those who made their Definitive Promise
was enumerated by Mrs. Martha Pereira. Fr.
Provincial wished them on behalf of the Province
and Fr. Silvestre D’Souza, the Superior and
Spiritual Assistant of St Therese of the Child
Jesus Community, spoke a few words in the name
of the local community of friars. The new batch
of postulants sang a wishing song specially
composed for the occasion.
Fr. Jeevan Tauro, the Spiritual Assistant of
Mount Carmel Community prepared the candidate
through a Recollection on the previous day,
followed by Confessions.
The two presidents, Mrs. Elizabeth Santos and
Mr. Roy Rodrigues along with the Council oversaw
all the arrangements of the liturgy, which went
on smoothly. Special thanks also to the two
Directors of formation, Mrs. Carol Mascarenhas
and Mrs. Effie Viegas for guiding the candidates
for this big and special day. We fondly
remembered two former Director of Formation: Mr.
Oliver and Mr. Leslie Santimano, who passed away
recently.
The Rite of Induction and Temporary Promises of
some other members will be held later, when the
situation is more conducive for a larger
participation.
