Six Brothers say YES to Jesus in Carmel
July 20, 2021 on the feast day of Prophet
Elijah, the inspirer and father of the Carmelite
Order, the six young Brothers from the land of
Tanzania made their first religious commitment
in the garden of Carmel. These brothers inspired
by the apostles took Jesus as their Lord and
Master. They repeated the words of the gospel
“Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of
Eternal Life” (Jn 6:68) and took these words as
their motto as they committed themselves to the
Lord in the Order of Carmel. The Solemn
Eucharistic celebration was presided over by
Rev. Fr Praveen Frank, Regional Vicar of the
Vicariate of Tanzania along with other
concelebrants. The brothers made their
profession in the hands of the Regional Vicar.
In his homily, he instructed the brothers that
true peace comes from Christ and not from
material things. Further, quoting the words from
St Augustine, he said, we need to have
tranquillity of mind, humility of heart and
tranquillity of the soul which are essential
requirements for the life of prayer and
community life.
After the Eucharist a short felicitation was
organized where the professed brothers were
felicitated. The Vicariate of Tanzania is
grateful to Fr Marlon Rodrigues, the Novice
Master for his quality formation towards the
novices. The entire Vicariate congratulates
these young budding Carmelites and accompanies
them through their prayerful and fraternal
support.
