Triple celebration of the Secular Carmel
Community held at Bajjodi.
The preparation for this special day consisted
of a day's retreat on the 9th of June 2019 under
the guidance of Fr. Jeevan Tauro OCD
7th July 2019, was a special day of the Infant
Mary (OCDS) community of Bajjodi wherein nine
members of the community -
Sr. Janet D'Souza of St. Antony
Sr. Cynthia D'Souza of St. Antony
Sr. Sharel D'Souza of Infant Mary
Sr.Gretta Lobo of Infant Jesus
Sr. Gracy Fernandes of the Little Flower
Sr. Sabreena D'Costa of the Little Flower
Sr. Sylvia Mascarenhas of St. Teresa of Avila
Sr.Asuntha Mendonca of the Little Flower
Br. Patrick Menezes of St. Joseph
made their temporary promises in the presence of
Rev. Fr. Charles Serrao, OCD, Provincial
Superior and Sr. Leena Fernandes, Sr.Rita D’Sa,
Sr. Tina D'Souza received scapulars (entering
the first phase of initial formation).
Seven Priests and Deacon Roshan Monteiro
concelebrated the Mass during which there was
the rite of Promises. Rev. Fr. Charles Serrao in
his brief homily explained the missionary
dimensions of the Church and also highlighted
the three main dimensions of the Secular Carmel
that are Prayer, Community life and Devotion to
Mary. The candidates were guided by Fr. Ivan
D’souza OCD.
Mass was followed by a cultural programme in the
Church hall to which Provincial Fr. Charles
Serrao, Delegate Provinical of OCDS Rev. Fr.
Rovel D'Souza, Fr. Deep Fernandes, Spiritual
Assistant Fr. Ivan D'Souza, Fr. Patrick Lobo,
President of Secular Carmelite Karnataka - Goa
Provincial Council Mrs Jane Sequeira, Vice
President of the Parish Council Mr. Joseph
Mascarenhas, were present on the dais. Ward
Gurkars and parishioners were among others
present for the function.
The annual day programme started at 11.15am with
a prayer song. Rev. Fr. Ivan D'Souza welcomed
the guests and the gathering after which OCDS
Secretary Mrs. Gretta Lobo read the Annual
Report. This was followed by prize distribution
to all the winners of the Annual sports day.
Mrs. Asuntha Mendonca read out the names of the
winners.
The guests in their message congratulated all
the members of the Secular Carmel for their
unity and co- operation and called to partake in
the work of the Holy Church through prayer and
service and their commitment to the vocation.
President of OCDS unit, Bajjodi Mrs. Gracy
Fernandes delivered the vote of thanks. Mrs.
Laveena D'Souza compered the programme.
The OCDS members exhibited their talents through
Qawali, Jokes, and skit. The programme came to
an end at around 1.15pm by singing Marian hymn
followed by lunch.
