Bible Enthronement at OCDS Our Lady of Mount
Carmel Community
On Sunday, Feb 8th, 2026 Our Lady of Mount Carmel Community OCDS
Margao, marked a meaningful moment during its fraternity meeting
with the Enthronement of the Holy Bible, placing the Word of God at
the heart of its communal and spiritual life. The ceremony was
conducted in an atmosphere of prayer and recollection, highlighting
the centrality of Sacred Scripture in the Carmelite way of life.
Rev. Fr. Diogo Proenca blessed the enthronement and offered a brief
yet profound reflection on the significance of honouring the Word of
God. He emphasized the call to listen, meditate, and allow Scripture
to transform daily life, encouraging members to approach the Bible
with reverence and openness of heart.
As part of the Bible Enthronement ceremony, a table was placed at
the center of the chapel and covered with a white cloth, symbolizing
purity and reverence for the Word of God. This was followed by a
solemn procession in which OCDS Members Elizabeth, Earl, and Anna
carried the Holy Bible, the candles, and the flowers respectively.
These were prayerfully placed on the prepared table.
The ceremony was gracefully led by Otilia, who served as the
narrator, guiding the community through each moment of the rite.
Savio proclaimed the Word of God, reading from Joel 2:12–13, calling
the fraternity to conversion and a return to the Lord. This was
followed by a reflective sharing by Alice, helping the members to
internalize the message of Scripture in preparation for the Lenten
season.
As the season of Lent approaches, the Bible Enthronement served as a
timely invitation for the community to prepare their hearts through
repentance, prayer, and interior renewal. By enthroning the Word of
God, the fraternity was reminded to walk the Lenten journey rooted
in Scripture, embracing a deeper spirit of conversion and
contemplative listening.
In the Carmelite spirit, Bible Enthronement invites us to ponder on
the Word in silence, like Mary, allowing it to transform us from
within. The celebration reaffirmed the fraternity’s commitment to
living the Gospel faithfully in the spirit of Our Lady of Mount
Carmel.
