MINOR
ORDERS CONFERRED AT CARMEL HILL
“Each of you should use whatever gift you
have received to serve others, as faithful
stewards of God’s grace in its various
forms.” (1 Peter 4: 10-11)
As every person is gifted with the seed of
vocation in his/her life, it bears fruit
eventually in the service of God and his
children. As Carmelites, we realize our
vocation in the service of the Church by
living the life of prayer and apostolate
particularly as priests. The journey to
priesthood involves a life of dedication and
maturation and recognising this, the Church
has instituted the sacred ministries of
Lector and Acolyte as necessary steps
towards diaconate and priesthood.
February 8th 2022 was the chosen day as the
brothers from the first year of Theology
were officially instituted as Lectors and
the brothers from the second year of
Theology as Acolytes. Rev Fr George
Santhumayor, Provincial Superior who is
currently doing his pastoral visitation at
St. Joseph’s Monastery conferred these
ministries to the brothers during the Holy
Eucharist at 7 pm. Fr Lancy Lewis, the
formator took the privilege in initiating
the brothers towards the conferral of the
ministries. Fr Rudolph Pinto preached a
homily highlighting the importance and role
of these ministries. The mass thus concluded
at 8: 10 pm and fathers from the community
joined the celebration.
We congratulate the Brothers and wish them
all the best in their ministries of Lector
and Acolyte.
