Definitive YES to Jesus by Sr Benedicta
19 December 2021 is a day to be rejoiced and cherished as Sr. Benedicta of the Holy Face, nee Roschelle Rovina Martis, daughter of Vincent and Mary Martis, said her definitive 'yes' to Jesus Christ with whom she found the hidden treasure which was longing in her life. Inspired by the words of St Paul, she wanted to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like Him (cf. Phil 3:10-11). She solemnly pronounced the evangelical vows of Chastity, Poverty and Obedience in the hands of the Prioress, Rev. Mother Maria of the Blessed Sacrament, in a public ceremony held at the Cloistered Carmel of God the Father, Pune. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Most Rev. Dr Thomas Dabre, Bishop of Poona along with Rev. Fr. George Santhumayor, Provincial Superior of Karnataka Goa Province and other Carmelites, Jesuits, Dominican, Holy Cross and Diocesan priests. Fr George Santhumayor preached an inspiring homily highlighting the gift of wisdom which could be acquired through detachment. He also said that Sr Benedicta pronounced her vows against three P's of the worldly thinking namely Power, Possession and Pleasure. Fr Silvestre D’Souza animated the liturgy. Sr Benedicta expressed the sentiments of gratitude to all on behalf of the Cloistered Sisters.The K.G.
