THREE NEW DEACONS TO THE PROVINCE
The Carmelites of Karnataka Goa Province were blessed to have three ordained deacons Rev. Ashwath D'Souza, Rev. Vishan Monis and Rev. Adarsh Rodrigues on 6th August 2020. The Liturgical Celebration was presided over by Most Rev. Peter Paul Saldanha. During the homily, he exhorted the 8 candidates to the diaconate and the faithful present on "The Relevance of a Deacon in the Church." They are called to be Servants or Helpers to the Church with specific mission of preaching the Word of God and to be at Service of the Church.

Rev. Ronald Serrao, the Rector of St Joseph Seminary, presented to the Bishop the candidates to be conferred the Sacred Order of Diaconate. In the presence of a few priests, religious, laity and the relatives, they were ordained to the Order of Diaconate.

Bishop Emeritus Most Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza, Msgr Maxim L Noronha Vicar General , Very Rev Pius D Souza OCD Provincial Karnataka - Goa Province, Fr. Charles Serrao, Fr. Wilfred Rodrigues, and others were present at the occasion. The Bishop also felicitated Very Rev Pius D Souza, the new Provincial of OCD Karnataka - Goa Province. Fr Viajy Machado, Director DBCLC compered the liturgical ceremony.

The number of participants in the ceremony was restricted due to government regulations. Only close relatives of deacons were invited to be the part of the ceremony.
