Priestly Ordination at Belthangady
April 07, 2021 the parish of Belthangady, Most Holy Redeemer Church had
the reason to rejoice along with the Carmelites as two young men – Frs.
Ashwath D’Souza and Vishan Vinu Monis from the parish were raised to the
Sacred Order of Priesthood. The Ordination rite mass commenced at 9-30
am presided over by Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of
Mangalore and Most Rev. Mar Lawrence Mukkuzhy the Syro-Malabar Catholic
bishop of the Diocese of Belthangady along with 60 concelebrants.
Fr Pius James D’Souza, Provincial of the KG Province presented the
candidates to the Bishop for priestly Ordination. The Bishop of
Belthangady in his homily highlighted the role and mission of a priest
in the Church. The choir of the parish was exultant as they raise with
its voices the hearts and minds of the assembly to God. The ordination
liturgy was animated by Fr Alwyn Sequeira.
After mass a short felicitation was organized at CVC hall where Fr
Prakash D’Cunha acted as master of ceremonies. Fr George Santhumayor
raised the toast emphasizing the role of a priest and the qualities of
the new priests. Fr Provincial addressed the new priests on behalf of
the Province. Fr Joseph Cardozo, the parish priest felicitated them on
behalf of the parish. Finally, the new priests expressed their
sentiments of gratitude to God and those all who had helped them to
ascend the altar of the Lord.
The K.G. Province congratulates the new priests and wishes every success
in their priestly ministry in the garden of Carmel.
