Catholic Pacific College Students Experience
Spiritual Renewal at Little Flower Monastery
From September 13-15, 2024, students from Catholic Pacific College,
Vancouver, gathered at Little Flower Monastery, Carmel Hill, Deroche,
BC, for a retreat that proved to be a profound blessing. The weekend
offered them a chance to step away from their daily routines and
immerse themselves in an atmosphere of spiritual renewal, prayer,
and community-building.
A key highlight of the retreat was the continuous presence of the
Blessed Sacrament, fostering a deep sense of reverence and
connection to Christ. Each evening, the students participated in
Eucharistic Adoration, offering personal moments of prayer and
reflection in the presence of the Lord. For many, this was a
spiritual highlight, drawing them closer to God and helping them
rediscover the power of stillness in His presence.
The retreat also promoted communal growth. Living together in a
peaceful and secluded environment, students formed stronger bonds,
sharing their experiences and supporting one another in faith. The
monastery's serene landscapes and quiet atmosphere contributed to a
sense of belonging and peace, leading many students to describe the
experience as "living in a home."
The retreat left a lasting impact on participants, sending them back
with renewed energy and a deeper understanding of their faith
journey, both individually and as a community.
Special thanks were extended to Fr. Vincent Dsouza OCD, superior of
the monastery, and Fr. Stephen Lobo OCD, Assistant Director, whose
guidance and presence greatly contributed to the success of the
retreat.
