Lar De Terezinha Destitute and Shelter Home
The Karnataka-Goa Province has a reason to rejoice and
celebrate at the inauguration and blessing of Lar De
Terezinha Destitute Home and Restored Lar Chapel and Shelter
Home at Pajifond, Margao. The formal inauguration and
Blessing of the destitute home took place on September 3,
2020 with selected invitees on account of the pandemic. Most
Rev. Filipe Neri Ferrao, Archbishop of Goa and Daman blessed
the new building. Rev. Fr Pius James D’Souza OCD, Provincial
Superior of Karnataka Goa Province by cutting the ribbon
inaugurated the destitute home. Fr Silvestre D’Souza OCD,
Superior of Carmelite Monastery Margao unveiled the plaque.
Fr Archibald Gonsalves, OCD the former Superior of Margao
Monastery who was responsible for the new edifice verbalized
his sentiments of gratitude to all the benefactors, donors,
well-wishers, contractor, engineers, labourers, the Help and
Help Trust and to the Lar inmates. Fr Pius James D’Souza,
the Provincial expressed his gratitude to Fr Archibald
Gonsalves who left no stone unturned to realize this unique
project of constructing the destitute home in Margao. The
Provincial also thanked the community of Margao who
collaborated and joined hands in the realization of the
project. The Carmelites friars from Londa, Honnavar, Xellim
and Mapusa joined the celebration. After the blessing and
inauguration of the destitute home, all the invitees
participated in the light refreshments.
