Report of the Meeting of the Not-So-Young Priests at Xellim

The Fifth Not-So-Young Priests’ meetbegan on
August 19th morning at Xellim - Goa. 19 Fathers were present
for the meeting. Fr. Joy the convener of the programme
welcomed everyone. It was inaugurated by lighting the lamp
by Rev. Fr. Charles Serrao, the Provincial and 5
representatives from each batch. Thereafter Fr.Provincial
presided over the Eucharistic celebration which was
concelebrated by Fr. Peter D'Sa and Fr.Sunil Monis. During
the homily Fr. Provincial invited everyone to reflect on the
Carmelite life and the importance of the three Evangelical
Counsels.
Fr. Provincial addressed the participants and highlighted
the importance of having a deep relationship with God,
spirit of sharing, sense of belongingness and healthy
relationship with one another. He invited everyone to
contribute their full to work for the growth of the Province
saying “I am open for dialogue and suggestions. Let us work
together as one team for the good of the Province.” At the
end Fr. Joy thanked Fr. Provincial for his fraternal visit
in spite of his busy schedule.
Input sessions on Counseling skills, technical and pastoral
counseling by Clinical Psychologist Rev. Fr. Simon Denis
from Rosary College, Navellim–Margao was organized. It was
really meaningful and enriching
The second day Dr. Peter Castelinho was invited for to
enlighten the Not-so- young priests of our province on the
theme of Suicidal tendencies and their prevention. Fr.
JeevanTauro introduced the resource person. He taught the
valuable techniques of listening in order to understand the
person well. His simple and practical method of teaching was
really interesting and enriching. At the end Fr. Ajith
Rodrigues thanked Dr. Peter for sharing his wonderful
experience
On the third day Fr. Henry Moras the Jubilarian was
felicitated. Fr. Oswald Crasta read the report of the last
year which was proposed by Fr. Deep and seconded by Fr.
Deepak Thomas. Thereafter Fathers one by one started sharing
their own personal and pastoral experiences. Fr.Ronald
moderated the session.
