Excellence
The second edition of CarmeLight—an inter school competition held
under the banner “For Excellence We Strive”—took place at Mount
Carmel School, Belur, with resounding success from November 18-19,
2024. A total of 434 enthusiastic students from various Mount Carmel
Schools came together to showcase their talents in a variety of
games and competitions.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Rev. Fr. Silvestre D’Souza,
Provincial Superior and President of CJET, who presided over the
event. He received the ceremonial guard of honour and proudly
hoisted the school flag, symbolizing unity and excellence. Adding to
the grandeur of the occasion, Mr. Sudarshan, an international
Kho-Kho player, lit the Olympic torch, inspiring the young athletes
to participate with true sportsmanship and a spirit of camaraderie.
Other distinguished guests included Fr. Prakash D’Cunha, Provincial
Councillor, and Fr. Melvin Lasrado, Treasurer of CJET, along with
the correspondents and principals of the schools.
Over two days, the event blossomed into a vibrant celebration of
sportsmanship and teamwork. The competitions culminated in a grand
closing ceremony, presided over by Fr. Archibald Gonsalves,
Provincial Councillor, who presented the coveted Champions Trophy
during a glittering function. Fr. Alphonse Britto, another
Provincial Councillor, also graced the occasion. Mount Carmel
School, Belur, emerged as the overall champion, while Mount Carmel
School, Huvina Hadagali, and Mount Carmel School, Ramnagar, secured
the first and second runners-up positions, respectively.
The Karnataka-Goa Province School Apostolate extends its heartfelt
