A Blessed Encounter: Provincial’s Pastoral Visit to the OCDS Community
On November 5, 2024, the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Community, OCDS, Margao, was graced with the presence of their dedicated and humble Provincial Superior, Rev. Fr. Silvestre D’Souza, during his pastoral visit. This occasion marked a profound moment of spiritual renewal, leadership, and unity for the community members, offering them a renewed commitment to their mission and vocation.

The evening commenced with Inez Fernandes, the compère, extending a heartfelt welcome to Fr. Silvestre. She invited him to light a candle, symbolizing unity and love within the community. Ashreena Mendes then presented Fr. Silvestre with a thoughtful gift—a plant, representing spiritual growth and guidance. The gathering’s sacred atmosphere was enriched by the invocation of the Holy Spirit through the hymn "Welcome Holy Spirit" and a vibrant action song led by Savio Barretto and his team.

Cheryl Fernandes then shared a Gospel reading, followed by a reflection by Robin Santos. Elizabeth Santos provided a comprehensive Community Report, offering insights into the group’s activities and spiritual journey, further uniting the community in shared purpose.

Fr. Silvestre addressed the community with words of wisdom and encouragement, sparking collective reflection and fortifying their mission. His message served not only as personal inspiration but also as a guiding light for the community’s shared purpose, encouraging members to move forward with renewed faith and zeal.

The evening concluded with a vote of thanks from Carol Mascarenhas, who expressed gratitude for Fr. Silvestre’s impactful visit. Dwayne Fernandes then presented Fr. Silvestre with a thank-you gift. Together, the community recited the Angelus and sang the Salve Regina, closing the evening with a blessing from the Provincial.

May the grace of this pastoral visit continue to inspire the OCDS members to live out their vocation with renewed fervour and dedication. Indeed, it was a truly blessed evening that left a lasting impact on all.
