The Annual Feast of St. Anthony celebrated
at Koteshwar
St. Anthony’s Parish, Koteshwar, celebrated its annual feast with
great devotion and joy, bringing the entire community together for
three days of spiritual and cultural activities. The festivities
began with Confraternity Sunday on 3rd November, marked by a solemn
Eucharistic celebration and a grand procession. Parishioners
participated in large numbers, displaying their devotion as the
Blessed Sacrament was carried through the streets. Fr Dennis D’Sa
was the main celebrant who preached an inspiring and spirit-stirring
sermon after the procession.
The celebration continued on Tuesday with the Vespers, a traditional
evening prayer service. Before the Vespers, the statue of St Anthony
was taken in procession with great devotion accompanied by hymns and
music. After this, the solemn vespers were led Fr Ligoury Crasta who
delivered an insightful homily, emphasizing the life and virtues of
St. Anthony. The melodious singing by the parish choir through the
chanting of the psalms added a sense of reverence and solemnity to
the service, creating a peaceful and prayerful atmosphere.
The highlight of the festivities was the Feast Day Mass on 06
November 2024, Wednesday at 10:30 AM. The church was filled with
parishioners and well-wishers who gathered to seek the intercession
of St. Anthony. The festive Mass was celebrated by Fr Paul Rego, the
dean of the Kundapur Deanery along with visiting clergy. In his
homily, the celebrant spoke about the enduring faith associated with
St. Anthony. After the mass, the ICYM had set up stalls for the
various games. The Brass band captured everyone’s attention.
The celebrations brought everyone together in a spirit of fellowship
and unity. It was a joyful and spiritually enriching experience for
the entire parish.
