Installation of Infant Jesus Statue and
Feast Celebration at Mount Carmel Spirituality Centre Edmonton
May 24, 2025, marked a historic and grace-filled day at Mount
Carmel Spirituality Centre, as over six hundred faithful gathered
with deep devotion to celebrate the Feast of the Infant Jesus of
Prague. This celebration, made memorable by the installation of the
sacred statue, will remain etched in the hearts of all who were
present.
The inspiration behind the feast was Fr. Jerome Moras, OCD, whose
vision was supported by the generous donation of a sacred replica of
the Divine Infant by Mrs. Susan Papas Hauck, a devoted promoter of
this devotion for over twenty-seven years.
In preparation for the feast, a triduum was held, featuring
spiritual reflections by Fr. Rudolf D’Souza, Fr. Israel Gonsalves,
and Fr. Mario Fernandes. On the feast day, a solemn pontifical Mass
was presided over by His Excellency, Bishop Gary Anthony Franken,
Bishop of the Diocese of St. Paul, Alberta. Following the
Eucharistic celebration, the Statue of the Infant Jesus was carried
in a grand procession accompanied by litanies, hymns, and a vibrant
performance by the Sinulog Dancers of the Filipino community.
After the procession, Bishop Franken solemnly enshrined the statue
in the side chapel of the Centre. Devotional chaplets and prayer
booklets were distributed to the faithful, inviting all to continue
their devotion to the Holy Infant.
The celebrations concluded joyfully with a potluck meal and a time
of fellowship, beautifully organized by the Centre’s dedicated staff
and volunteers.
Special appreciation goes to Fr. Frank Sharma, OCD, Director of
Mount Carmel Spirituality Centre, for his leadership and
coordination in making this spiritual event a resounding success.
May the Divine Child of Prague continue to draw many hearts to His
love and bless all who honour Him with childlike trust.
