Feast of Our Lady of Fatima Celebrated in
Xellim
The Parishioners of Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, Xellim-Loliem,
gathered in large numbers on May 13, 2025, to celebrate the Feast of
Our Lady of Fatima with deep devotion and reverence.
The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr.
Silvestre D’Souza, OCD, Provincial Superior of the Karnataka-Goa
Province of the Discalced Carmelites. He was joined by Fr. Rovel
D’Souza, OCD, Superior of the Divine Springs Retreat Centre, Xellim;
Fr. Teodosio Fernandes, OCD, Chaplain of the chapel; Fr. Alphonse
Britto, OCD, Provincial Councillor; and several other priests in
concelebration.
Preaching on the theme, “Mother Mary inspires us to renew our lives
by deepening our life of prayer,” Fr. Silvestre encouraged the
faithful to seek inner renewal and spiritual growth through a closer
relationship with God, drawing inspiration from the life and example
of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The chapel choir led the liturgical singing, adding beauty and
solemnity to the prayerful atmosphere. At the end of the
celebration, Fr. Teodosio Fernandes expressed heartfelt gratitude to
all who contributed to the success of the feast, including the
clergy, choir, volunteers, and parishioners.
The feast was preceded by a nine-day novena featuring special Masses
and spiritual reflections. The entire celebration stood as a
powerful testimony to the parish community’s unity and unwavering
devotion to Our Lady of Fatima.
