POSTULANTS ENTER NOVITIATE
The five postulants namely Br. Royston D'Souza,
Br. Fleming D'Souza, Br. Wilton Fernandes, Br.
Likson Figreda, and Br. Vijay Roston Sequeira,
began their canonical novitiate life on 30 April
2021 with the rite of initiation into the
religious life celebrated during the Vespers.
Fr. John Pinto, the Superior of Tapovana,
presided over the Vestition rite and gave them
an official welcome to the novitiate life. To
the query: What do you ask from us? the
postulants replied together in these words - We
wish to try your way of life, and are willing to
be tested ourselves, that we may follow Christ
wholeheartedly, in this Order of Discalced
Friars of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount
Carmel. Fr. Ashwath, the newly Ordained priest
gave an introduction and animated the whole
liturgy. Fr. Alfred J. Menezes, the Novice
Master addressed the postulants on the meaning
of the religious life and the spirit of the
Order by calling their attention to their steady
journey to Union with God in love. The ceremony
concluded with the singing of Salve Regina in
honour of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and with kiss
of peace by all the members of the community.
Thereafter the community congratulated the
novices for their courageous and bold decision
to continue in their vocation to Carmel.
