REV. FR BERCHMANS PINTO CELEBRATES GOLDEN YEARS!
March 25, 2014 Tuesday on the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, the Carmelite friars along with the Pinto family celebrated the golden jubilee of the religious profession of Rev. Fr Berchmans Pinto, OCD. The celebration commenced at 5-00pm at Infant Jesus Shrine, Mangalore with the thanksgiving Holy Eucharist presided over by the jubilarian along with other 25 concelebrants. Fr Deep Fernandes preached a thought provoking homily highlighting the consecration of the religious in the modern society. After the spiritual celebration all the friends and relatives assembled together inside the monastery premises where a short felicitation programme was held. Fr Prakash D’ Cunha compeered the programme. Fr Pius James D’ Souza, Superior of the Monastery welcomed the gathering. Fr Gregory D’ Souza raised a toast enumerating the life and mission of the jubilarian and the various talents through which he has served the order in his various capacities. Rev. Fr Archibald Gonsalves, Provincial Superior felicitated Fr Berchmans on behalf of the entire province. The Pre-Philosophy brothers entertained the gathering through their creative and innovative talents. The secular Carmel members and the family members of Fr Berchmans felicitated the Jubilarian through their melodious wishing song. Fr Assisi Rebello, the parish priest of Hospet congratulated the jubilarian on behalf of the parish. Fr Berchmans through his songs and speech expressed the words of appreciation and gratitude who made his this event a successful one. Finally Fr Jerald D’ Souza, Superior of Tapovana community felicitated Fr Berchi on behalf of the community and prayed grace over the meals. The celebration culminated with the fellowship dinner prepared by St Antony Caterers, Bantwal. We congratulate the jubilarian and wish him every success in his religious journey in the garden of Carmel.
