Secular Carmelite Member Laveena defends her Doctoral Thesis
MANGALURU: Laveena D'Mello, who has made her definitive promises in the Secular Carmelite Order, defended her Doctoral Thesis in Sociology on the title, "A Sociological Study of HIV Positive Women in Dakshina Kannada" on June 11, 2018 and obtained Doctorate from the University of Mangalore. Laveena DMello, becomes the first member of the OCDS to obtain PhD. She was felicitated at the Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte - Mangalore on June 14. Profile of Dr. Laveen D'Mello, OCDS (Dr.) Laveena D’Mello, Assistant Professor, Srinivas University, Mangalore, Karnataka, India, is a Passionate Social Work professional, Trainer, Faculty and a Researcher with Master’s degree in Social Work, M.Phil in Sociology, and submitted Doctor of Philosophy Thesis in June 2017 at Mangalore University. Over last 2 decades of committed experience in Social Development domain, have spent 16 years in teaching and training at Graduate and Masters Level of Social Work Courses. Along with this, have more than 09 years of Social Work Field experience for HIV & AIDS at NGO level in South India. In addition to this, she is an efficient and preferred trainer in Counseling and Life Skills. Several Training programs were conducted on Group Dynamics, Personality Development, Communication and Psycho-social Education for various organizations, Schools, NGO’s, Institutions, Communities, Teachers and parents on Life skills and value education. As an active Researcher, she is glad to share that many research publications have been published on Elsevier’s SSRN online journal and stood 16th rank in March 2018. Her deep desire to share the knowledge by publishing books on “Community Development- rural, urban and tribal Perspective” will serve the students of Social Work.
