OCDS Community Recollection and Induction
Ceremony:
On Friday, June 28th, the Our Lady of Mount Carmel OCDS Community
gathered in deep prayer and reflection for a blessed Recollection
Service, held under the gentle guidance of Rev. Fr. Diego Proença,
OCD. This sacred occasion was not only a time of spiritual renewal
but also a joyous celebration of vocations within the Carmelite
family where 9 members entered into Aspirancy stage and 1 member
entered formation I (Novitiate).
The recollection began with a moving hymn to the Holy Spirit,
inviting His presence to fill the hearts of all gathered. This was
followed by a reading from the Word of God, which prepared the
community to enter into the mystery and meaning of their Carmelite
calling. In a powerful and heartfelt talk, Fr. Diego spoke on the
importance of being a Carmelite in today’s world, reminding all
present that the call to Carmel is a deep response to God’s love—a
journey of prayer, silence, and service rooted in the Gospel and
guided by the example of Our Lady and the Carmelite saints.
In a grace-filled moment, nine members were admitted into Aspirancy
1) Cynthia Pereira
2) Sharlon Fernandes
3) Rita D’Costa
4) Digna Lobo
5) Sarita Alvares
6) Milagrina Colaco
7) Natalie Barbosa
8) Louise Fernandes
9) Victor Carvalho
Each was called forward by name and received the emblem of Our Lady
of Mount Carmel, lovingly placed by Sr. Elizabeth Santos, OCDS, the
Community President. The emblem serves as a sign of their commitment
to walk in the footsteps of the Carmelite tradition, seeking deeper
union with God through prayer and community.
The community then witnessed a special milestone as one member was
admitted into the Novitiate.
1) Leoniz Gomes
Called forth by the Director of Formation, the candidate
received the Holy Bible, the Constitutions of St. Albert, and was
vested with the Brown Scapular by Rev. Fr. Diego—a powerful sign of
belonging to the Carmelite Order and entrusting one's life to Mary,
the Mother and Queen of Carmel.
The entire celebration was filled with a profound sense of God’s
presence and a renewed commitment to live the Carmelite charism in
the midst of the world. As the community continues its journey of
formation and prayer, this day stands as a testament to the living
presence of the Holy Spirit and the loving call of God to walk the
narrow path of holiness.
We thank the Lord for these new steps in the lives of our members
and entrust them to the maternal care of Our Lady of Mount Carmel,
who continues to guide us ever closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.
