Blessing of the renovated structures at
Prerana Mission Station Jagalur
The community was filled with deep gratitude and joy to announce the
successful completion of the renovations undertaken at Prerana
Mission Station, Jagalur. This significant milestone marks not only
the restoration of a vital space in our community but also a renewed
commitment to our shared mission and service.
Key renovations include:
Beautification of the sanctuary in the Chapel
New sanitary fixtures in the rooms of the friars
Two well-equipped residential rooms on the ground floor
Three cubicle-style rooms with attached baths on the first floor
A new staircase dedicated to employees and social work
beneficiaries, offering both convenience and a clear demarcation of
the monastery enclosure
Renovated kitchen and upgraded staff quarters
Completion of the approach road leading to the parlour
The blessing of the renovated building was solemnly carried out by
Rev. Fr. Silvestre DSouza, the Provincial of the Karnataka-Goa
Province on June 03, 2025. This was followed by a Eucharistic
celebration, presided over by Fr. Provincial, who also preached a
thought-provoking homily. In his message, he reflected on the
missionary zeal of St. Paul, who served the Lord not only publicly
through powerful oratory but also with a personal touch, visiting
homes and living a life free of hypocrisy. He encouraged the
faithful to emulate this spirit, guided by the Holy Spirit.
A felicitation ceremony followed, honouring:
Fr. Provincial for sanctioning and funding the renovation
project
Fr. Prakash Dcunha, Councillor in charge of Temporalities for
overseeing the renovation work
Mr. Wilfred Lasrado, the contractor for his dedicated execution
of the project
Thanks are due also to the contribution the community has received
from the Generalate, through the Mission Office and the
recommendation of the Definitors who made the Pastoral Visitation of
our Province, recently.
The community took the opportunity to acknowledge the services of
Fr. Vishan Monis, an outgoing member of the community, for his
tireless and pioneering efforts in developing Carmel Garments into a
self-sustaining project.
Fr. Archibald Gonsalves, the Vice-Provincial, in his message,
reminisced about the origin of the mission centre and highlighted
the invaluable contributions of earlier priests who played pivotal
roles in shaping the mission. He also congratulated the current
community, especially the Superior, Fr Sylvester Pereira, for their
untiring service and wished them continued success.
The occasion was graced by the presence of:
Rev. Fr. Alphonse Britto, Councillor in charge of Spirituality
Fr. Denzil Viegas and Fr. Prakash Rebello from Hadagali community
Fr. Sunil Rodrigues and Fr. Pranay Pereira from Shimoga community
Fr. Prasanna Kumar and Fr. Prakash Tauro from Belur community
The community also delighted by the presence of parishioners and
staff from Carmel Garments, whose continued support is deeply
appreciated.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Rev. Fr. Sylvester
Pereira, Superior of the community. The liturgy was meaningfully
organized by Fr. Ronald Furtado, and the event was gracefully
compered by Fr. Nelson Pinto.
The day ended on a joyful note with a delightful and sumptuous
fellowship meal, bringing the celebration to a heartwarming close.
