NEW OCDS PROVINCIAL COUNCIL elected!
The Secular Carmel of our Province has crossed
another milestone. 14 members in Definitive
Promise, from four communities (Mysuru,
Mangaluru, Margao and Mira Road) gathered at
Sadbhavana, Bengaluru on 27th of July, 2019.
Since Fr. Provincial could not be present on
account of a death in his family, Fr. Rovel
D’Souza OCD, the Delegate Provincial of the
Secular Carmel in our Province, presided over
the elections that were held for the new OCDS
Provincial Council.
It can be recalled that 3 years ago, the
Provincial had nominated 4 members to the first
OCDS Provincial Council, after receiving
proposals from the above local communities.
They were:
Mrs. Jane Sequeira (Mangaluru): President
Mrs. Elizabeth Santos (Margao): Secretary and
Councillor for Apostolate
Mrs. Sofia Lora D’Sa (Mira Road - Konkani):
Treasurer and Councillor for Formation
Mrs. Victoria D’Costa (Mysuru): Councillor for
Spirituality and Community Life
Their term expired in June 2019. We are very
grateful to them for their selfless service in
the past three years. They have contributed a
lot and the Secular Carmel has grown because of
their sincere efforts and dedication.
Now for the first time we had elections for the
OCDS Provincial Council. The electors comprised
the outgoing OCDS Provincial Council members,
Presidents and two elected representatives from
four local OCDS Communities.
The results of the election:
Mr. Rodo Pereira (Margao):
President
Mrs. Lavina Noronha (Mangaluru): Secretary and
Councillor for Formation
Mrs. Victoria D’Costa (Mysuru): Treasurer and
Councillor for Apostolate
Mrs. Felcy D’Souza (Mira Road) Councillor for
Spirituality and Community Life
We congratulate the above elected members and
thank them for accepting the responsibility of
co-ordinating the activities of the Secular
Carmel in our Karnataka-Goa Province.
May the Secular Carmel blossom further under the
protection of our Heavenly Mother and the
patrons: Sts Louis Martin and Zelie Guerin!
