Welcoming Fr. Kaushik Parmar to Our Lady of
Mount Carmel Shrine, Benoni
On the feast day of the Baptism of the Lord, January 12, 2025, Our
Lady of Mount Carmel Shrine joyfully welcomed Fr. Kaushik Parmar as
the newest member of the Carmelite mission in South Africa. This
significant occasion was marked by heartfelt celebrations and a
sense of community as Fr. Kaushik began his journey in this vibrant
mission.
On this special day, Fr. Kaushik celebrated two masses, bringing the
congregation together in prayer and reflection. His homilies
resonated with the faithful, which were particularly apt for the
feast dedicated to the Baptism of the Lord.
Following the masses, the Shrine's rector, Fr. Rayan Pais, extended
a warm welcome to Fr. Kaushik. In his remarks, Fr. Rayan highlighted
the significance of the day, stating, "As the Lord Jesus began His
public ministry after the baptism, so Fr. Kaushik is going to begin
his new mission on the feast day of the Baptism of the Lord."
As a symbol of their warm welcome, Fr. Kaushik was presented with a
passion fruit plant, signifying the hope that his mission would be
filled with genuine passion for the Lord. Additionally, he received
a flowering plant, representing growth and the blossoming of faith
within the community as he embarks on his new role. The welcoming
ceremony fostered a sense of unity among the congregation, who
expressed their support and enthusiasm for Fr. Kaushik's new
responsibilities.
