OCDS Members’ Joyful Visit to the Cloistered
Carmel of Chicalim
On 9th February 2025, members of the St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus
OCDS Community, Margao, had the privilege of visiting the Cloistered
Carmel of Chicalim as part of their outreach program. Accompanied by
their Spiritual Assistant, Fr. Lancy Mendonca, the visit was a
grace-filled occasion marked by prayer, fellowship, and joy.
The gathering fostered a deep sense of connection between the OCDS
members and the cloistered sisters, strengthening their spiritual
bond. Fr. Lancy’s presence added a profound depth to the encounter,
making it even more meaningful. The visit was enriched by engaging
activities, including a Bible Housie game, which provided a fun yet
reflective way to recall and meditate on Sacred Scripture. Another
highlight was the singing of traditional Goan "Mandos", filling the
atmosphere with laughter and camaraderie. To the delight of all, the
sisters also joined in, singing soulful hymns that uplifted hearts.
A delightful tea gathering followed, where members and the sisters
shared snacks and warm conversations, deepening their sense of
community and fraternity.
As the day drew to a close, the evening prayer led by the cloistered
sisters created a peaceful and reflective atmosphere, uniting all in
thanksgiving and praise. The visit was truly a blessed experience,
reinforcing the spirit of unity within the Carmelite family. It
served as a beautiful reminder of the joy that flows from faith,
love, and shared devotion—a day to cherish in the hearts of all who
attended.
