Advanced Music Theory Classes in Mangaluru
A long felt need of Mangaluru region,
namely higher form of theory in Music like
harmony, modulation regulation etc., was
realized with the systematic classes
introduced here at Carmel Hill, Mangaluru,
under the auspices of “Carmel Kala Academy”.
Joel Pereira the instructor while
inaugurating the course said that, “the need
of the hour is to learn how to compose
systematically. Many of our musician’s have
studied the basics but have not ventured
into the sophisticated aspects of theory of
Music, may be due to lack of interest or
lack of instructors or opportunities. Though
a few classes were offered many years
ago in Sandesha and elsewhere, there were no
takers as this course implies lot of hard
work and perseverance. Here is a golden
opportunity to the advanced learners to
become professional composers” he said. Fr.
Wilfred thanked Fr. Alwyn Sequeira who
worked behind this course and Joel Pereira
for accepting to guide the budding
composers. Fr. Ronald D Souza, the Councilor
in charge of Formation and chief guest of
inaugural ceremony appreciated the
initiative of the community to organize such
a course and wished all the students the
best by offering them a rose and requested
them to persevere till the end. Bro. Aaron
Babusha compered the program. It was
announced that the first
module consists of ten classes of two hours
each and will run on every Thursday between
6 to 8pm and those qualified will be
admitted to the second module which will
commence after June 2020. Meanwhile in
April, May a summer course in Western Vocals
and Violin have been envisaged and those
interested were requested to get in touch
with Fr. Alwyn Sequeira for further details.
