Solemn Professions Mark St. John of the
Cross Feast
On December 14, all roads led to Teresianum, Rome as six young
Carmelites, resplendent in the Carmelite habit and mantle, processed
solemnly to the chapel to celebrate the Solemnity of St. John of the
Cross. They were led by the Shepherd of the Order, Very Rev. Miguel
Marquez Calle, and accompanied by an esteemed group of priests,
including Definitor Generals, Rectors of three communities, and
Provincials.
During the concelebrated Holy Eucharist at 11 a.m., the six brothers
joyfully committed themselves for life into the hands of Rev. Fr.
General. Representing four diverse nationalities—India (Br. Ruban
and Br. Siman), Tanzania (Br. John and Br. Yohannes), Congo (Br.
Ignace), and Madagascar (Br. Clariel)—they stood as a testament to
the universality of the Carmelite vocation. The occasion was
especially joyful for the Karnataka-Goa Province and the Regional
Vicariate of Tanzania, as three of the brothers belong to their
communities.
The well-animated liturgy, accompanied by a soulful choir of
brothers and parishioners from the Basilica of St. Pancrazio,
enhanced the celebration. The event was further enriched by the
presence of religious congregations, friends, and well-wishers.
After the Eucharist, a sumptuous festal lunch featuring Italian and
Indian cuisine brought everyone together in a joyful expression of
unity in diversity.
