Pushpashrama Day: A Celebration of Faith and
Talent
Pushpashrama Institute of Philosophy and Religion marked its annual
Pushpashrama Day on November 23, 2024, with a vibrant celebration of
faith, culture, and talent. The event was presided over by Rev. Fr.
Archibald Gonsalves, the Vicar Provincial of the Karnataka-Goa
Province of the Discalced Carmelites.
The day commenced with a soulful prayer song, setting a serene tone
for the festivities. Fr. Oswald Crasta, the Rector, extended a warm
welcome to the distinguished gathering, which included Carmelite
friars, priests, religious, devotees, benefactors, and well-wishers.
The seminarians, with their youthful exuberance, captivated the
audience with a dazzling display of music, dance, and drama. Their
performances were a testament to the holistic formation they receive
at the Institute. Fr. Wilfred Rodrigues, the Dean of Studies,
presented a comprehensive report, highlighting the diverse range of
spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral training offered to the
seminarians.
In his address, Rev. Fr. Archibald Gonsalves emphasized the
significance of Pushpashrama Day and its role in shaping the lives
of the seminarians. He expressed admiration for the seminarians'
remarkable talents, considering their relatively small number, and
commended the formation team for their dedication.
A mesmerizing fluorescent show in Kannada followed, tracing the rich
history of the Discalced Carmelite Order. Br. Brayan, on behalf of
the community, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all present for
their continued support and encouragement.
The highlight of the event was the English drama "Grandeur of
Simplicity," a tribute to Saint Thérèse of Lisieux on the eve of the
centenary of her canonization. The performance was met with rapt
attention, captivating the audience with its poignant portrayal of
the saint's life and spirituality.
The event concluded with the singing of the Pushpashrama Anthem,
followed by dinner. The Pushpashrama community offers heartfelt
thanks to God for the successful celebration of Pushpashrama Day and
prays that the talented seminarians may grow into dedicated priests
and religious, following in the footsteps of the Good Shepherd.
