FAITH SHARING COMPETITION – Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Community – OCDS, Margao
: Sunday 11th Aug 2024
August is a jubilant month as many of our members celebrate their
birthdays during this time. On Sunday, August 11th, 2024, We, the
members of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Community, OCDS, Margao, gathered to
partake in the Faith Sharing competition.
We also took this opportunity to celebrate the birthday of our Spiritual
Assistant, Rev. Fr. Lancy Mendonca, along with the birthdays of those
born in the month of August.
The meeting began with evening prayer, followed by meditation for around
20 minutes.
We then had a spiritual talk by our Superior Rev. Fr. Marlon focused on
a concise summary of St. Teresa’s of Avila’s Interior Castle where he
explained St. Teresa's journey toward achieving union with God through
the seven mansions. He further went on to explain entering the door of
first mansion is only through Prayer where the soul needs to spend time
in the rooms of “self-knowledge” and humility.
Rev. Fr. Marlon guided us to follow the below steps to
• Live in allegiance to Jesus Christ.
• Be diligent in meditating on the law of the Lord.
• Dedicate time to spiritual reading, particularly the works of the
Saints and those of our Order.
• Participate in the Church’s Liturgy, including both the Eucharist and
the Liturgy of the Hours.
• Be attentive to the needs and well-being of others.
• Equip ourselves with the practice of the humility virtue as we pursue
a vibrant life of faith, hope, and charity.
• Seek interior silence and solitude in our prayer life.
• Strive to deepen our prayer life, leading to service in God’s Kingdom
on Earth.
The evening continued with the cutting of the cake for Fr. Lancy
Mendonca and all those celebrating their birthdays in August.
The highlight of the evening was a faith-sharing competition among the
members, where participants composed a song about the life of St.
Therese of the Child Jesus, followed by the distribution of prizes.
Our participants created lyrical songs, and some even performed duets.
It was lovely to hear about St. Therese of the Child Jesus through these
songs. This
