Vocation Camp ZELO ZELATUS 2025 @ Carmel
Hill
The Vocation Camp “ZELO ZELATUS 2025” was held from April 7th to 9th
at St. Joseph Monastery, Carmel Hill, Bikarnakatte, Mangaluru. This
three-day spiritual gathering began on Monday evening at 5:00 PM and
concluded on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 PM, bringing together 95
enthusiastic participants.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of Fr. Archibald
Gonsalves (Vicar Provincial), Fr. Melvin D’Cunha (Superior), Fr.
Stifan Perera (Director of Infant Jesus Shrine), and Fr. John Pinto
(Procurator). They set the tone for the days ahead, inspiring the
participants to open their hearts to the call of God.
One of the most engaging sessions of the camp was led by Fr. Paul,
who used magic as a creative and captivating way to explain the
biblical meaning of vocation. This unique approach left a lasting
impression and sparked thoughtful reflection among the youth.
Another highlight was a live conference call with Carmelite priests
serving across the globe. Fr. Rudolf D’Souza from Canada, Fr. Roshan
Lobo from Italy, Fr. Rayan Pais from South Africa, Fr. Roshan Pinto
from Tanzania, Fr. Joy Agnel from Australia, and Fr. Ivan Sequeira
from Spain shared their personal vocational journeys and mission
experiences. Their stories offered valuable insight into the
richness and diversity of the Carmelite vocation, inspiring
participants to think beyond borders.
On Tuesday night, a vibrant campfire session was held, led by Mr.
Clenvin, a renowned drama artist. With music, laughter, and shared
moments of reflection, the evening fostered deep bonds of happiness.
The final day featured a moving panel discussion with family members
of Carmelite priests. The mother of Fr. Anoop, the father of Fr.
Pranam, the sister of Fr. Babusha, the brother of Fr. Praveen Frank,
and benefactors Mr. Adwin and Mr. Merlin shared heartfelt stories
about their support, challenges, and joy in nurturing vocations
within their families.
Throughout the camp, participants engaged in a wide range of dynamic
activities—from group games and beach fun to stage competitions and
inspiring talks by Carmelite fathers. These moments not only
encouraged creativity and teamwork but also deepened the
participants’ sense of purpose and faith. As the camp drew to a
close, the fathers conducted personal interviews with participants,
providing a space for them to reflect on their experiences and
articulate their vocational stirrings. The presence and active
involvement of many Carmelite fathers and brothers added a special
depth and warmth to the camp, making it a truly memorable encounter.
The ZELO ZELATUS Vocation Camp 2025 was indeed a significant boost
for the aspirants, helping them to listen more attentively to God’s
call and inspiring many to seriously consider the Carmelite
religious life. The vocation promoters extended heartfelt gratitude
to the St. Joseph Monastery community and the Province for their
unwavering support in making this camp a success.
